The Tackle - posted December 5, 2001
This was the first story I completed upon returning to creative writing as an adult. It's already
hard for me to read it without cringing. I guess the bright side is that because I've been writing steadily since completing it, I am
able to recognize how weak it is; whereas when I first wrote it I was very happy with it.
Anyhow, The Tackle was inspired by a real-world sporting event and the story idea just came to me. And no, it's not just a "sports story".
It took about five months to complete, with some very poor discipline on my part to keep at it.
Read it!
There are three ways to read the story:
1) E-Book format, read with or .
2) PDF format, read with . (this format is printable)
3) On the web page in applet form. (unfortunately this method currently works only for IE browsers. IE on the Mac works, but doesn't look as good as on the PC.)
