About me, and this web site...

I realize that having a web page bearing my name might immediately cause a visitor to think that I was quite full of myself. I wouldn't blame them for thinking that, since I have seen many pages that fall into that category. However it may look, that's just not true of this site.

Sure I enjoy sharing the work I do with others, but I'm also my own worst critic. Ask anyone that knows me and you'll hear that I have a hard time accepting compliments (which doesn't mean I don't like to hear them just the same). This page isn't for ego stroking, it's merely a place to share some of my writing. It's not likely that I'll be published anytime soon, so instead I'd like to post the stories I write here, and hopefully entertain some readers along the way.

It won't take you long to notice that I am no wordsmith, and even claiming to be an adequate writer may be pushing it. I think that my strength lies in the story ideas that I create and capture. I visualize the ideas much like a movie would play out, and I've found it very challenging to try to get them into story form intact. So, I'll be working on improving that skill with the many story ideas I have on the go at all times.

I think that, ultimately, I might be best suited for screenwriting. Although, that seems to be a very tough business to break into (having had a talented friend try quite hard to succeed in the area, and who has still not broken through after many years, I've gotten a whiff of this fact). I've got two ideas for screenplays, so eventually I'm sure that I'll get up the confidence and courage needed to give it a try.

Another area of interest is writing for graphical novels. I have two of those projects on the go right now with two different artists, and I hope they lead to a nice finished product.

So finally, to quickly tell you about myself: I'm 29, the father of a son who is one, and I've been married for just over six years.

I was quite the little writer starting back in grade five, when I voluntarily wrote many stories outside of my school assignments. But eventually I drifted away from it and on to other endeavors, until finally I was 19 years old with no idea of what I wanted to do with my life career-wise. I earned an honors degree in Psychology, then managed to shift gears and start working with computers in 1997.

My day job now is working as a computer programmer, and I don't plan on quitting it anytime soon (so you needn't remind me that my writing isn't marketable ;) ) Regardless, I have realized over the last few years that as much fun as computers can be, it doesn't quite do it for me. I have come to the conclusion that if I'm not creating, there is something significant missing for me. I can't explain it, but that's the undeniable truth.
